Galaxy & Stars Assymetrical, Custom Vintage Revival Earrings

Sep 01 2010
These earrings represent our night sky with a bit of twilight blue; bold, dancing stars & the galaxy's all-encompassing energy. Dale was delighted to see how these turned out. She had selected various jewelry orphan pieces from my vast collection & asked me to make them into funky, fun earrings. They suited her fun-loving, healing nature & looked fabulous with her blonde hair & big smile setting the stage! She will be wearing these at many a business meeting. . . Please let me know if I can create something similar, and one-of-a-kind for you!

Lovely Ladies Clown Faces, Vintage Revival Collection

Aug 31 2010
Dale spotted these Lovely Ladies & wished to transform them from the original simple post earring to something more sculptural. I created a bale and framed the face with silver art wire. From the chin I dangled Swarovski bi-cone crystals in blue & black, pink & red, to bring out the painted lady colors. These lipstick reds will never smudge, so Dale won't ever have to worry when she greets her friends with her usual hugs & kisses!

Red Carpet Necklace, Who Needs a Dress? Vintage Mosaic Collection

Aug 29 2010
This Red Carpet-No-Dress-Required necklace is from my Gallery Vintage Mosaic Collection. Actually, this combines most of my collections with stained glass (Da Vinci C.), Sea Glass (Beach Gem C.), Vintage Necklace Chain & Heart Once Pin (Vintage Revival C.). But who's keeping score? This is just a stunner for any red carpet & is so seriously Statement that only the most basic column drape of a dress is needed, if any at all! Are you watching the 2010 pre-emmy Red Carpet shows? Doesn't Eva Longoria need to cover her naked decolletage with this piece? Well, it's too late, since it's taken. . . .Please let me know if I can "dress" you for your next Red Carpet event? Oh, by the way, my daughter, Pamela, has done Red Carpets all week & is now at a pre-Emmy Champagne/ Caviar party. Oh the life!

Rhinestone Dragonfly & Sea glass, Vintage Beach Gem Revival Necklace

Aug 28 2010
This vintage Dragonfly flew once as a pin and now flies freely as a pendant. The ice seaglass offers a muted light from its perch below. The contrast of air creature & water gem is as beautiful as sparkling rain just before a rainbow. This Dragonfly's age shows with a dropped rhinestone. It is not noticeable, but, as with recycled found objects, care should be taken with this creature of the garden. Chain is approximately 18 inches long. Please let me know if you'd like a different length. Adjustments are free of charge.

Frosted Sea Glass & Starfish, Beach Gem Bracelet

Aug 27 2010
Mermaid's tears have never been so happy. Each ice sea glass piece has been tossed around the bottom of Maine's ocean floor and now shows a brilliant frosted surface that begs light to enter and illuminate from within. I created a free-form waves-washing-over design while caging each piece with 24 gauge gold filled wire & added a vintage "Lunch at the Ritz", 24 kt electroplated starfish with Austrian crystal at the center. Adjustable from approximately 6 1/2 - 7 inches. An absolute beauty that will fill your day with light & thoughts of beach treasure hunts! Original price $279, now reduced to $239.

Sea Slate & Ice Sea Glass, Beach Gem Collection

Aug 26 2010
Neil came into my boutique hoping to purchase jewelry that would represent his love for his wife. After viewing several collections & realizing that she loved collecting sea glass, Neil brought in all of her collection. He chose several pieces for me to work into a design for him, including this sea slate & ice sea glass. I used argentium (non-tarnishing) sterling silver to cage the two together. I do not use glue or solder in my designs, so it was important to keep the pieces intact and aesthetically pleasing & artful. Neil wore this piece home yesterday, along with another seaglass piece which I worked into his keychain. . . . Please let me know if I can create something beautiful out of your sea glass, or mine!

Lemon Squares in Silver Hoops, Da Vinci Collection Earrings

Aug 25 2010
These little lemon square windows were hand-cut & beveled from stained glass, then wrapped like little presents in silver, non-tarnishing art wire. Movement & a mix of shapes & layers keep this Da Vinci design full of light & play. There is nothing so fabulous as being the beam of light in the center of any room. So plan on just that when you don this pair in any outfit!!!

Copper Filigree, CZ & Swarovski Crystal, Confection Collection Earrings

Aug 24 2010
Every now & then I get brave & dare to design earrings which require a great deal of attention to duplication (not in the factory sense, but in hand-woven filigree design). And as in this case, the result is worth the effort. Dawn now models this pair beautifully, I hope on many occasions! The Swarovski bi-cone crystals & dangling Cubic Zirconia in square & circle shapes shimmy & shimmer with Dawn's every step!

Sheilla's Jester, Confection Collection Belly Button Charm

Aug 23 2010
I met Sheilla at Ikea when checking out. She commented on my jewelry & from there we stayed in touch. She loves to dance & longed for a belly button charm that could dance with her. We discussed & I created her name in free-form -- dangling from the Jester's grasp. . . . I love "wire writing", and have had the pleasure of completing many custom requests for names & sayings. Please let me know if I can create the same for you in a one-of-a-kind design!

Sea Glass & Black Eye Suzies, Vintage Mosaic Pin

Aug 22 2010
I'm reviving this in blog land, 'cause it's perfect for that fall scarf or jacket, & especially for that cute little hat that keeps falling leaves away. . . I love taking something already elegant & enchanting, & making it into something all the more unique & eye-catching. In this case, Black Eye Suzies caught my eye & had me cutting & beveling stained glass in teal & amber, as well as sea glass for adding & enhancing. This little lovely measures approx. 2 inches by 1.5 inches. Do consider yourself on the sunnier side of fall with this vintage revival art gem accessorizing your every move!

Sun & Sea Glass, Beach Gem Collection

Aug 22 2010
With the days of summer quickly slipping by, this piece represents how those moments of toes-in-the-sand & face-to-the-sky can be kept close to your heart year-round. I created a free-form surround in heavy gauge gold art wire around an eye-shaped ice sea glass piece. The sun fit jubilantly over with another splash wrap of wire & a few eternity scrolls for good measure, especially where negative space remained. The chain consists of hand-twisted art wire configured into separate bar links. Its overall look is bold as the sun & light-filled as the sky. . . Please let me know if I can create an art piece around sea glass & the sun for you!!!

Kim's Galactic Ball Earrings, Confection Collection

Aug 20 2010
This is Kim's third pair from the Galactic Ball, Confection Collection. Her first pair was part of a set with tiger eye & Swarovski crystals. The second are what we call her summer "jump-in-the-pool" earrings, 'cause that's exactly what she did! They are in blue & clear glass. This time, Kim wanted a pair to go with her outfits in her favorite color -- black. She also loves things that sparkle, so there was no sparing the Swarovski crystals in bicones, round & cube faceted aurora borealis. The circumference of each is approx 2 inches, perfect for standing out with her long hair!

Copper, Art & Sea Glass, Beach Gem Collection

Aug 19 2010
Fall is just around the bend, calling for the color of changing leaves in copper & brilliant oranges in your wardrobe. Orange art glass mimics nature's ocean gems, but in a color that is rarely seen. Ice white sea glass offers a cool contrast, while quartz crystals & hand-turned copper charms dangle below. Each chain link is also hand-turned & creates a chain that contributes to the overall sculptural effect. This Beach Gem Necklace is perfect for leaf peeping in style!!!

Karen's Cross & Seashell for Michelle, Beach Gem Collection

Aug 17 2010
Karen wanted to give her friend, Michelle, a gift from my Beach Gem Collection. She brought in this seashell & her cross. I caged the shell with the swirl of ocean waves in mind. The waves also served the purpose of filling in the uneven edge of the shell. I love working with imperfect shapes because I get inspired to be inventive when working the non-conforming shape into the design. I created a bale for the cross to dangle from & finished with a 15.5 inch adjustable triple braided silver tiger wire. Karen can't wait to give this gift to her friend!!!

Glamorous Sea Pebble & Swarovski Crystal Starfish, Beach Gem Collection

Aug 16 2010
I love combining nature's gems with vintage pieces who long to be brought back front & center. This substantial black enameled & gold double hoop is weighted for movement & balance. I created an adjustable 15 - 17 inch black suede & gold ball bearing chain to compliment the starring pendant. The Swarovski Starfish crystal offers a bit of glimmer to this already stunning one-of-a-kind statement piece. If you love to show your love for vintage & art jewelry, this is the piece to accompany you anywhere!

Fashionable Fish & Sea Glass, Beach Gem Collection

Aug 16 2010
These two pairs of once-earrings were the inspiration for this bold & aquatic-themed Beach Gem Necklace. The fish are enamel painted on wood or metal. The upper Flounder type tropical fish appear neon with aqua dots & bright lavender fins against a black body of scales. The lower Angel Fish look like they will come together to kiss. They, too, look designer with similar lavender & black, but this time in stripes. The underwater theme is made more prominent w/ a center large Freshwater Pearl dangle, while each of the four pendants sports ice-frosted sea glass & rippled clear stained glass from behind. The chain is adjustable from approximately 15 - 19 inches. Please let me know any preferences in length. Silver art wire is simply caged to bring all pieces together in a dramatic fashion. If you love the sea, nature & sea glass, this piece will make you feel quite at home in the most elegant & whimsical way. No one else will ever own a piece such as this!

Swarovski Crystals & Pearls, Vintage Lace Collection

Aug 14 2010
Joanne came to me two years ago when her son was getting married. She had me create this Vintage Lace Necklace with the Champagne color of her dress in mind. She brought it into my boutique & we measured so that it would fall to best advantage. The dress had a high boat neck type collar. I created a double layer of lace for a more stunning filigree effect. . . Her daughter is getting married this month, so Joanne had a terrific idea. Aside from her pre-wedding dinner jewelry set which I created for her, she saw that this Vintage Lace could star in a second wedding. Her dress is purple, so I added Amethyst Swarovski bicone crystals & voila, the versatility of this piece lives on! . . . Please let me know if I can do something like this for you, using exactly the colors that you love to wear!!!

Passionate Red & Earthy Metal, Da Vinci Collection

Aug 13 2010

Copper squiggles offer movement from below the hoop disc. Both are combined with a wrap of silver & brass art wire which are non-tarnishing. Pendant is hung from a quadruple tiger wire in brass finish. Pendant length is approx. 2 x 1 inch. Pebble & Pearl in Heart, Beach Gem collection

Aug 10 2010
This little Beach Gem is a slate pebble from Kettle Cove in Cape Elizabeth, Maine. The rocky shore is evident at so many of the Pine Tree state's beaches. The terrain is dramatic & offers many of the Atlantic's tumbled gems in the way of pebbles more than sea glass. To lighten the rock, I stayed with an open, sculptural design and dressed it's front face with a rhinestone heart & Freshwater Pearl. This piece sold at the Westport Art & Craft Show. . . . If you love nature, the ocean & this piece, let me create something similar, yet one-of-a-kind for you.

Elizabethan Collar of Bali Sterling, Silvered Leaf, Da Vinci Collection

Aug 09 2010
This design is reminiscent of the Elizabethan Era where massive & ornate collars were all the rage for the royals. Here is a vintage strand of Bali sterling floral beads that originally measured 40 inches in length. I gathered up several loops & secured them in sterling wire which I hand-tied into loop knots. I added a silvered leaf and a mirror textured stained glass piece which I beveled into shape. A perfect piece for that art gallery outing, or just a night out where you intend to stand out!

Serpent on Vine, Tiger's eye on Sea Glass, Beach Gem Collection

Aug 08 2010
This Beach Gem was purchased at the Gallery 225 in Chelsea, NY. The serpent on vine was the perfect counterpoint to the ice sea glass with tiger's eye pendant below. I love taking a vintage piece and adding my own twist. Right now I'm working on a client's platinum 2.5 carat diamond ring. She owns pieces from my vintage mosaic collection and wanted me to add my filigree design to her ring. Can't wait to show it to you!!! Let me know if I can do the same for you.

Summer Splash Galactic, Confection Collection EArrings

Aug 08 2010
I have taken my usual Vintage Mosaic design & inverted it to create the Galactic Earring Collection. Dawn came into my shop describing a similar design in the colors she had in mind. This is a slight twist on that design, which she & Kim & others now own. This wire wrap design is more compact with art glass beads in the colors of summer caged in silver non-tarnishing art wire. The size ranges from 1 - 2 inch diameter cages in shapes from circular to teardrop. I love mix-matching colors & metals to show what surprises might reveal themselves to the observer. This pair is waiting for a summer breeze or the turn of your head to gently sway them. You choose the type of ear wire, silver or gold, leverback or shepard's hook, or even post to be hung from.

Circa 1950's Rhinestone Flower Earrings, Vintage Revival Collection

Aug 06 2010
These antique earrings were once screwbacks. I removed the backs & created a bale atop the earrings & attached each to a shepard's hook for a nice dangle & lovely movement. If you look closely you'll see the wire cage design I blended in with the floral front so as to remain inconspicuous, while serving its purpose. . . . I've converted many of these type earrings for comfort & a contemporary look. Let me know if I can do the same for yours!

Victorian buckle, Pearl in Filigree Flower, Vintage Revival Lariat

Aug 03 2010
Candice lives a few towns over in Guilford, CT. She recently stopped in & discovered new art & antique jewelry treasures that are now a part of her collection. This Vintage Lariat caught her eye from a very high display. She loved that it is adjustable from choker to decolletage length. It starts with a micro chain in antique style sterling silver that connects the base Victorian etched buckle & 12 KT gold-filled flower with cultured pearl. I added a teardrop faceted crystal for weight and beauty. The final dangle is a brass seashell with a lavender freshwater pearl. . . . .Please let me know what you think & do allow me to create something similar for you using treasures from your collection or mine, or both!

Butterfly, Heart Locket & Elephant, Vintage Revival Charm Necklace

Aug 02 2010
This particular collection requires me to treasure hunt around my shop so that I can mix and match vintage pieces for both meaning and beauty. Here, a butterfly takes flight with a cascade to follow in the form of vintage gold heart locket, tiny starfish & trunk up elephant. Each piece falls in place with lots of room for movement. Even though each piece dances, they fall in place so that each is appreciated and not hidden. Charm pendant is hung from a vintage gold tone chain of approximately 15.5 inches. Let me know your preferred length. Adjustments are free of charge. The bale is large enough to allow for a change of chains, as well!

Pink & Black Staned Glass Little Presents, Da Vinci Collection

Donna selected pink & black stained glass for me to cut & bevel into little triangles as you see here. I wrapped each in my "gift wrap" design with gold-filled wire and hung them from multi-strands of black & gold tiger wire, which I created into a necklace of 15 3/4 inches. . . . Circa 1960's Acrylic Pink Moonstone, Vintage Lace Necklace

Jul 30 2010
Eileen travels to my boutique from Milford, CT -- over an hour ride each way. We have a blast sorting through pieces in my shop that would embellish pieces from her antique jewelry collection. We've spent many hours laying out her vintage Kramer, Weiss & Coro pieces to discuss, coordinate & construct the new life they will each take on. Here, Eileen longed to have what she thought was a plain choker in just the right pink for her skin tone. We needed to solve several problems. In order to convert it to longer than choker length, a solution was needed to keep the center from flipping forward. I created 17 inches of my Vintage Lace design in silver non-tarnishing art wire, connected her pink choker piece, added coral/ pink vintage beads from an earring orphan and voila -- this is what I've created. Her new Vintage Lace provides a light filigree design, while acting as a stabilizing base for her choker. I will be creating two more similar Vintage Laces with other chokers from her collection, so be on the look-out for those.

Wedding Comb, Vintage Revival Hair Jewelry

Jul 22 2010
Susan had recently had me complete her grandmother's jet bead single earring into a set. She next brought in these two haircombs for me to create into a filigree beaded design that would bring in the colors of her dress. We selected from a variety of vintage beads from cats eye to milk glass & glass pearls, as well as a set of clip on filigree vintage earrings. I removed the original white milk glass from the earrings & replaced them w/ Swarovski crystal drops. The earring backings were removed, allowing me to wire the new earring design onto the center of the filigree wire base I created & eventually wove the bead design in & out of. This reminds me of the combs that crowned flamenco dancers. Susan wore this to a summer wedding in which this would be her crowning glory! . . .Please let me know if I can create something similar for you!!!

Onyx & Pearl, Gem Revival Earrings

Jul 19 2010
I'm back from vacay, so will pick up where I left off! Can't wait to show you what I created while in the Lake Massawipi region of Quebec, in the quaint little town of North Hadley! For now, here is the third of Donna's custom designs that completes her set. I selected this vintage Onyx earring, bezeled & hung within 12 kt gold filled setting, circa 1960's. The onyx rectangle mirrors the rectangle stained glass in black which I hand cut & beveled for her necklace & bracelet. I created freshwater pearl dangles which would create movement & add to the overall feminine allure. Donna has black hair which she wears in a short blunt cut that is longer from the front, so we're always careful to have the length fit her to the best advantage. When she tried them on, they were perfect! . . .I love creating custom pieces out of vintage & jewelry orphans. Please let me know when I can create your one-of-a-kind creation!!!!

Beach Pebble, Da Vinci Necklace

Jul 10 2010
Donna brought in a beach pebble her husband, David, had picked up off a local shoreline & given to her. I'd already designed a beach gem necklace from a smoothed sea shell & Donna had something in mind for this treasure. Because much of her wardrobe is black with beautiful designs, she chose a black stained glass piece for me to hand-cut & bevel into the rectangle you see here. I wrapped the stained glass, with a bale above, then wrapped the beach pebble in like gold-filled wire, from which I hung a freshwater pearl. I created a triple strand tiger wire out of black & gold strands & voile, this is the first of Donna's complete set. Butterfly, Buddha, Strawberry & Star, Vintage Revival Charm Necklace

This client was looking for a graduation gift & saw another Vintage Revival Charm Necklace I had created for another client. Tropical Tangerine Seahorse, Angel Fish & Starfish, Vintage Revival Necklace

Jun 30 2010
I am in artist heaven when I begin digging in my collection of vintage charms, earrings & jewelry orphans. I often take apart jewelry to pull different parts together. Here, I started with vintage Lime Rickey green acrylic hoops, located a mix of gold & silver tone hoops, added the triple seahorse, fish & starfish drops & countered with like color hoop & faceted bead. The mix & blend of each earring leaves them unique, asymmetrical & balanced. These beauties are light-medium in weight. Warm up those strobe lights & hit the dance floor, or just take an exceptionally fun stroll knowing you will not be mistaken as a wall-flower -- EVER!

My obsession is collecting vintage & antique jewelry & bringing them up-to-date with an interesting twist. This circa 1940's West German pin set the stage in matte black & gold trim. Fire & Ice Da Vinci Earrings

I love combining a retro vintage element, here the coiled gold wire design & ball bearing with hand-cut & beveled mirror textured, stained glass. These are slivers that intensify the icicle effect, while above, the lapping flames of coiled wire hover dangerously close. Contrasts of hot & cold, wire & glass create an intensity that only art can define as it mimics nature. . . .If you loved this piece, please contact Kariann to share your ideas. Teardrop Amethyst, Gem Revival Pendant

Jun 20 2010
Out of the hundreds of precious & semi-precious gems in my boutique, David selected this teardrop Amethyst loose gem stone for his daughter's 16th birthday. I utilized sterling silver in creating an organically woven open cage design, which allows for light & the facets to shine through more than a bezel set would. David had already chosen to give his wife a yellow sapphire gem revival & now he was back for his daughter. . . .If you loved this piece, please contact Kariann to share your ideas. Green Quartz Emerald Cut, Gem Revival Necklace

Jun 17 2010
A beautiful, faceted gem, such as this Green Quartz should be allowed to shine. I wrap each gem with that in mind. Unlike most gold or silversmiths, I steer away from enclosing or bezel setting & opt instead to cage each gem in an open, flowing wire design. Here, I used thick gauged sterling silver twisted & round wire. It's important to secure the gem, as well as, allowing for light & all the facets to shine through. . . . Sterling Wave, Hematite & Pearl, Vintage Mosaic Necklace

Jun 15 2010
It's so interesting to me how each piece is dictated by its components. I often have a preconceived idea of where each piece should belong, but as I build & cage, the design begins to take a shape as if it has a mind of its own. This is what I call organic designing. It is up to me in the end to assure that each piece is balanced, intriguing & not too busy. This wavy sterling sliver with hematite, swarovski crystal & freshwater pearl made way for a taller rectangle shape & frame. I hung this piece from a vintage strand of glass pearls in grey & off white, similar to the pieces in the mosaic. . . .If you loved this piece, please contact Kariann to share your ideas. Iridescent Fan & Sea Glass, Vintage Mosaic Necklace

Sometimes when you toss a few goodies together, just because, well, things turn out prettier than pretty. I picked up this sliver of ice sea glass on Kettle Cove in Cape Elizabeth, Maine. A hand-cut piece of iridescent, pink stained glass crosses over the sea glass for an added layer of pretty, along with a contemporary silver hoop w/ more pink in the form of faux cat's eye bead & a MOP sterling bezel set teardrop bead. Green Bay Packers, Vintage Mosaic Necklace

Dad, Tony, was on the hunt for a special Sweet Sixteen birthday gift for his daughter. When I asked about her passions & hobbies, he mentioned that her favorite team was the Green Bay Packers. In this concentric circle piece I layered vintage gold hoops &, like a cake, placed numerous goodies in between the layers for a yummy & startling effect. Two slivers of rippled stained glass in cobalt blue & aurora borealis liquid clear serve as added focal points, drawing the eye in different directions. I added brass textured beads, grade A freshwater pearls & Austrian crystals along the perimeter for an even greater mix. Avant Garde Cameo & Pearl , Vintage Revival Necklace

Jun 02 2010
This lovely cameo was the second from Donna's collection. This time, she was ready to push the boundaries of design, so I created a frame which extended with the diagonal in mind. Donna wanted me to incorporate her own pearl necklace originally strung on nylon cord. I use cream and light chocolate freshwater pearls, Swarovski crystal hearts, cubes & bicones & a CZ drop for added movement. All elements climb from the pendant up through the interwoven chain design. Now Donna's cameos no longer sit in her drawer collecting dust! She allows them to shine with her on a daily basis!!!. . . Cameo & Swarovski Crystal, Vintage Revival Necklace

Jun 01 2010
Donna had several cameos given to her as gifts and hoped that they could be made more unique. We discussed the colors she wears, especially since she often wears suit ensembles to work. She liked the idea of dotting the frame with Swarovski crystals and a free-flowing wire design to add whimsy to this shell-carved beauty of a cameo from Italy. I added two CZ crystals that dangle & move with her every move and hung the cameo revival from micro glass chocolate-colored beads. This is as elegant as its owner & unique, too! . . . This piece is a part of my Museum Mosaic collection. It is chock-full of goodies from a sterling feather w/ bezel set turquoise cabachon to FW pearl, quartz crystal, sea glass, pewter sandollar & more. Teardrop Pearl, Sea glass & Swarovski Vintage Mosaic Necklace

May 30 2010
Robin came into my shop with her sister Meredith, who owns many pieces from my collections. She had wanted to create a pendant out of several pearls she had purchased. Robin selected the seafoam sea glass to include in her custom piece which would be similar to one she saw in my shop window. She also selected the colors of Swarovski bicone crystals you see in the piece. Two of the pearls were not drilled so I created a cage design for them and the third I kept in front of the sea glass piece. I use no glue or soldering in my designs, only the wire wrapping of all elements into a beautiful & balanced piece, as you see here. There will never be another like it! . . . My boutique at 169 Main Street, Deep River, Connecticut

May 26 2010
So come on over. I can honestly say that I have more art jewelry, vintage & estate jewelry per square foot & inch than any store in the world. I've lost count, but the jewelry is in the thousands mark. And each piece is displayed for optimal viewing. An archaeologist exclaimed that it was like being at a dig, not because she had to dig, but because there was so much in the way of antique & vintage in my art jewelry & in its original form. There's something for everyone -- I've welcomed all from kids & babies to dogs & their owners & everyone in-between. One Chocolate Lab named Coco even got her own piece of Chanel jewelry for her collar. I can't wait to meet you & show you around! The address is 169 Main Street, Deep River, CT, 06417. If you want to make sure I'm in, call my cell at 207-450-0939. All the best, Kariann

Silver & Paui, Vintage Lace Necklace for Abby

May 25 2010
Abby came into my shop with a pretty blue dress in tow. She had several occasions, including her 10 year reunion, so she wanted a necklace & earrings to match. My teeny boutique was already bustling with customers, so Abby walked around viewing possibilities. When it was her turn, she had picked out this Vintage Lace made out of once clip on earrings with faux paui & glass dots in aqua, pink & moonstone colors. She tried it on & we held the dress up and found this suited her well. I also created earring to compliment the necklace & dress. It is a hammered swirl with little loops which I filled in with baby blue, aurora borealis bicone Swarovski beads. They don't dangle too low, so as to not compete with the Vintage Lace. She will get lots of use from these two! . . . If you loved this piece, please contact Kariann to share your ideas. Sea Glass Teardrop & Pearls, Contemporary Mosaic Necklace

May 24 2010
This was one of my first teardrop Mosaics. I typically start with pieces that catch my eye & inspire me to create. Here, an ice sea glass piece & a mauve art glass piece nod to each other, while two grade A pearls & two bulls-eye blue cube glass beads offer added focal points of luster & color. The wire is sterling silver. I created twisted bar links with interlinking loops for the chain. Dichroic Glass & Filigree, Gem Revival Necklace

May 23 2010
Kim came into my boutique ready to treat herself to her Mother's Day gift. She owns & runs her own childcare center, so I'd say that a treat to her liking is well-deserved. She picked up a dichroic glass piece in colors that appealed to her -- green & lavender. Noting my wire wrap designs, she asked that I do something unique while turning this piece into a pendant. At first she wanted the wire design to be simple, so as not cover the beauty of the foiled glass work. On first viewing, she realized that she really wanted more wire work. This free-form filigree design is the result. I added an eternity symbol charm to break up the open center. Communion Cross on Sea Glass, Beach Gem Neklace

May 20 2010
Two weeks ago Liz walked into my shop with the hope of finding a cross for her daughter, Emily, to commemorate her first Holy Communion. Emily is a tall nine year old who she said loves arty things. When I suggested a piece of sea glass as a backdrop for the cross, Liz picked out this sea foam-colored triangle with a missing edge to contrast with the one inch rhinestone cross. She asked that I go with an elaborate framed design & this is the result. Emily came in with her little sister to try on her Beach Gem Cross & tiger wire chain, which I custom fit to her size. Sea Pebble & Amethyst & Royal Blue Flowers, Beach Gem Necklace

May 16 2010
Just last week, after seven foot waves overtook the beach in front of my house, I found this rectangle beach pebble. It's been squared off by the tossing & turning among ocean waves. I couldn't wait to create around it. I forged a free-form cage with silver, non-tarnishing art wire & "grew" once earring orphans that represent garden beauties among the edges to soften & add a flora aspect to this art-to-wear piece. The amethyst flower contrasts richly with the royal blue rhinestone flower & silver leaf with a row of rhinestones. The piece measures approximately 2 x 3/4 inches & is hung from a vintage silver tone chain. It is absolutely stunning & comfy to wear!

Black Onyx & Sea Glass, Vintage Mosaic Necklace

May 14 2010
I was inspired to do a Vintage Mosaic piece based on the glass & onyx beaded vintage necklace. I collected a teardrop shaped onyx stone, ice sea glass & swarovski crystals & set out to create something open & airy in design. The result is this tear drop shaped Vintage Mosaic which is embellished w/ lovely linear loop-d-loops. It is as much elegant as it is whimsical! . . Sea Shell, Flower & Crystal Sterling , Vintage Revival Lariat

May 14 2010
This lariat offers many looks, as it pulls the antique style sterling chain from both sides! The detailed links keep the chain from sliding, once you've decided on the length & look for your outfit. I absolutely love when a statement piece is versatile, delicate, feminine & full of vintage found objects, and this lariat fits the bill perfectly. The flower is a 12 kt gold filled filigree design with real pearl, a faceted glass crystal dangle below & the catch is a Victorian belt buckle. The very bottom dangle is a spiral sea shell in brass with a lavender freshwater pearl dangle. I'd feel so yummy in this piece & absolutely like I could stop traffic with this as my accompaniment for the day!

Dancing Queen, Aqua Vintage Revival Necklace

May 10 2010
This is a vintage charm take on a contemporary piece. I was drawn to the faceted acrylic crystal cluster necklace with a contrasting black metal chain. The possibilities for bringing an added touch of vintage here were endless. I started with black cut-out leaves that drape in a cluster or are placed solo for balance. The aqua & crystal faceted bead dangle is a nice touch, along w/ the cloisenne bead dangle. They draw the eye to varied angles & add to the charming weeping willow tree effect. Whether you're in the mood to dance the night away or just dazzle anyone before you, lead the way with this stunning art-to-wear piece!

Citrine in Sterling, Gem Revival Necklace

May 05 2010
Debra had many citrine gemstones from which to select. I carry everything from loose emeralds to aquamarines & wrap each gem in semi-precious to 14 KT gold wire. Here, Debra preferred sterling to set off the brilliance of this pear cut 5 ct citrine gem. I kept the design open in front so as not to obscure the facets & beauty of the cut & quality. The open caged design is totally dictated by the stone, so no two are alike! Debra chose to combine gold & silver tiger wire for her chain design. I custom build chains for each piece, depending on the client's preferences. Some prefer a sterling chain, others a choker & most the tiger wire for its simplicity & lack of distraction from any pendant. . . . The above strand of art clay enameled vintage pieces consists of the same colors as my pendant creation, thus the perfect marriage. Don't depair, this yummy art-to-wear concoction could still be yours!

I combined vintage carnival glass Czech buttons & once pearl clip on earrings. Since Claire wears black a lot & she hoped to wear this with her custom matching earrings & bracelet set beyond her sister's wedding, I added glass jet black beads. . . .Kariann's vintage lace design is handwoven from non-tarnishing silver art wire. Scuba Green Da Vinci Earrings

Mar 19 2010
When I say Scuba, I mean the deepest depths of the ocean green. This stained glass is hand cut & beveled to frosted edges, so try as you might, there is no danger along these softened edges. I wrapped silver art wire so that the result of most of my Da Vinci earrings are that of little gift wrapped presents. Here the glass & wood bead dangle move w/ a tiny silver puffed heart & a bar & eternity dangle. I'd be caught wearing these from blue jeans to mini skirt & leggings everyday!

I fell in love with this circa 1930/ 40's pin that played off of a brass flower w/ bright red rhinestones & a swirl of filigree gold ribbon around it. It fit well into my confection designed cuff with rich brass multi-chains woven in & out. The effect is rich & whimsical, while the cuff is flexible & absolutely comfy! For contrast I added kernel yellow freshwater pearls in an open wire design on each side of the centerpiece. The closure is the original slide & lock type. Sea Glass & Pearls Vintage Mosaic Pin

Mar 11 2010
Aqua is the color that reminds us most of the sea & sky, so it's no wonder that it is one of the most popular colors in my jewelry designs. I cut stained glass & juxtaposed it with this frosted sea glass piece. To break up the angles, I added freshwater pearls, Czech faceted aqua crystal and a vintage Swarovski crystal button. The gold art wire is woven to form loops & curls that soften the overall effect. The vintage brass pin below peeks out from behind, but is the all-important pin backing. This precious pin can be worn on hats, scarves, lapels, you name it, it will add that bit of sea & sky to any wardrobe!

Lots of negative space bring in the oceanic depths, while all the playful found objects come together in an act of under-the-sea wonder. This piece is statement, weighing in at approximately 2.5 inches by 1.5 inches & is hung from puka shell chain approx 16 - 18 inches.

Cameo, Brass & Wood, Vintage Revival Necklace

Jan 28 2010
Cameo is elegant, wood is earthy, brass is basic. Together, these elements of jewelry orphans, charms & chains offer balance & whimsy. I know, whimsy is my favorite word, but that is often what I aim for. The mix of chains, too, stretches contrast of color, texture & metals. Finally ready-to-wear, this elegant statement piece will take you from day to evening, jeans to cocktail dress. Don't let her get away!

Aqua Pool, Museum Mosaic Necklace

Jan 27 2010
Envision a piece of jewelry as a pool you'd like to dive into. Just be careful 'cause you might cause damage to you the beholder, and the owner innocently displaying this 'round her neck. "Have a Coke" Charm, Vintage Revival Necklace

Jan 27 2010
When I found this vintage "Have a Coke" bottle opener, I couldn't wait to begin my next creation. The brass beveled bar chain closes with a lobster clasp at the opener. For contrast & whimsy, I added a teardrop Jasper, feng shui brass, a "gold" nugget, & many other charms. The Coke bottle opener can be hung from every angle, with the charms moving into different positions each time. This one-of-a-kind, found object piece is not only an amazing conversation piece, but one that is fun, geometric in design & cleverly eye-catching. . . .The new owner wore this to an art gallery opening, only to be stopped by art-goers who wanted to know about her necklace. . . And, yes, its function as a bottle opener is intact, so open away! . . . If you loved this piece, please contact Kariann to share your ideas. Pecky longed for a stunning necklace to wear at her book signings. 14 KT Custom Swan, Vintage Mosaic Necklace

Jan 23 2010
Pidge wanted to surprise his wife with a Past, Present, Future Pendant when he proposed to her to renew their wedding vows. He had drawn a picture of what he had in mind. We decided to include his children's birthstones, as well as her engagement ring diamond. The rest was up to me. I did not intend for a swan to transform itself here. But, as I started with her diamond, then wove in tanzanite & blue zircon, then ended with two diamonds, all interwoven in a flowing river of 14 kt gold wire, the swan came to be. Pidge surprised Gail in front of an audience of a packed room full of friends & they've since renewed their wedding vows & Gail has enjoyed Pidges show of his love, one being her Swan Vintage Mosaic Necklace! . . . The Avenger's Emma Peel in Lime Swarovski & Sea Glass, Vintage Lace Necklace

Jan 15 2010
If I had to represent this Vintage Lace as a TV character, it would be as Mrs. Emma Peel from The Avengers. Her character works as a karate-kicking spy for the British Government. Her partner is the dashing Major John Steed. She uses an Italian Beretta 7.65 pistol & drives a white 1964 Lotus Elan S2. She would appropriately be sporting this Vintage Lace creation which I created out of vintage circa '70's enamel & gold hoops. To add contrast, I wire wrapped triangle shaped deep seafoam/ lime sea glass & tossed in lime Austrian faceted crystals. There is a Mod Elan here. Rhinestone & Filigree Ball, Vintage Cloud Necklace

Jan 04 2010
I created this Vintage Cloud around the vintage marquis rhinestones column. It was fun & challenging weaving gold tiger wire in & out of the column. This light, airy, & fluid design dances with the vintage filigree gold bead that dangles alluringly below. Your decolletage with thank you, as will your date when you become as sexy as you feel when wearing this from blue jeans to black dress.

Contemporary Queen Victoria, Vintage Revival Necklace

Jan 03 2010
I see this piece in a period movie. The young Queen Victoria would have loved to kick up her royal heels with this piece as a crowning touch! The filigree vintage clip is the focal point & made lively by the pomegranate glass beads and hand-woven silver wire. The multiple silver-linked strands bring this to today! Take your blue jeans or bare-shouldered red carpet gown to elegant & royal heights with this one-of-a-kind beauty!

Buttons & Hardware, Vintage Lace Necklace

Jan 03 2010
I scooped up buttons, earrings & a scarf clip to create this Vintage Lace design. This is so much fun & so much whimsy, assymetrical, but balanced. I love how the button with faux stitch stands out among all the gold vintage jewelry pieces. I hand-wove a soft gold art wire that does not tarnish. As with all my Vintage Lace designs, this floats on your neckline, molds to your contours & feels weightless & absolutely comfortable to wear. What more can you ask of unique art-to-wear? This piece belongs to Stacie now . . . Please email Kariann if you love this piece. Steampunk Leaf on Leaf, Vintage Revival Necklace

Jan 03 2010
It's not so easy getting into an old watch to see what makes it all tick. Those tiny, once moving parts are no longer a mystery here. Look closely & you'll see the wonder of such tiny mechanisms & yourself peering from a triangle stained glass mirror piece. Swarovski royal blue bicone bead & green glass leaf also play in this Vintage Revival art-to-wear piece. It is hung from a 16 inch sterling silver chain. Do you see your reflection here???

Creatures in the Garden, Vintage Cloud Necklace

Jan 02 2010
Dale wanted a Vintage Cloud that took her aside and made her say, "this is me!". She chose a few of the vintage glass buttons in blues, lavenders & the black aurora borealis kitty button. This blossomed into what you see here. I cannot dictate where the pieces will finally lay, they do that for me. The tiger wire here is soft & the entire pendant can be crumpled before it falls back into shape. This is my lightest & airiest of designs. Thank you Dale for letting me create this for you! . . . Please email Kariann if you love this piece. I love how this seafoam colored sea glass points skyward, so majestic and still soft with quartz crystals wedded to it with an open, flowing silver art wire design. A tiny sterling flower offers a sweet counterpoint at its center. This delicate piece will become a daily favorite, reminding its new owner of what it's like to dip a toe in the carribean or look up to the clear, cool sky.

Sea Glass and Apple Orchard in Fall, Vintage Mosaic Necklace

Dec 30 2009
I love the open design and negative space that brings the many focal points to forefront. Here, vintage acrylic leaves, olive-glass cabachon, cultured freshwater pearl, sea glass and crystal intermingle with gold art wire to create this apple shape Vintage Mosaic Necklace. This piece had many admirers and one eventual owner, who now has many of my pieces in her collection. . . . Please email Kariann if you love this piece. Eye in the Sky Blue, Ocean Below, Vintage Mosaic Necklace

Dec 30 2009
The intense blue glass faceted piece that symbolizes a single eye focusing on the beyond is set above a lick of an ocean wave. The pieces that jump out to me begin my process of recreation or reconstruction. They dictate shape and size as in this teardrop design. Some are apple, some rectangle and some teardrop in shape. The wire is almost always one contiguous piece, grasping and wrapping in a free-form flowing process the pieces I select to combine. The blue against the green, combined with silver art wire result in a cool palate. Originally I called this the Bullseye in Blue, but it is up to the owner/ beholder to feel and react and maybe be inspired to name their piece, as art is meant to do. What does this piece make you feel, see? . . . Please email Kariann if you love this piece. Once a porcelain beauty, now a natural element one with the sea and now one with my Apple Vintage Mosaic. It is surrounded above and below with hammered gold and brass vintage & new orphan jewelry pieces. Starfish & Chrysoprase, Vintage Mosaic Necklace

Dec 28 2009
The colors of Chrysoprase remind me of the cool Caribbean sea no matter its earthly origins. I was possessed with the idea of the depths of that sea, hence the dark sea foam stained glass piece I juxtaposed with semi-precious gems and a Swarovski Star fish crystal. You too can be possessed with the idea of escape when the coolness of this Vintage Mosaic creation rests against you. The art extends upwards along the Chrysoprase nugget and sterling necklace. Is this one you?

Spanish Galleon on the High Seas, Vintage Mosaic Necklace

Dec 27 2009
This piece was purchased in Westport when I was still doing arts & craft shows. I don't miss the work those shows involved, since, now, I feel so privileged to have people coming to my boutique to view, purchase and commission the latest and new vintage art jewelry pieces. . . . Here is a vintage galleon in all its brass and enamel detail as it is tossed on sea glass which I cast as the high seas. A gold-toned orphan earring is reconstructed to become one massive tidal wave serving as the backdrop for this piece, now owned by a surgeon in Westport. The circa '30s crystal button gazes upon these and two stained glass pieces, also juxtaposed with the brave vessel. Please email Kariann if you love this piece. Sailboat at Full Moon, Vintage Mosaic Necklace

Dec 27 2009

If I get home in time, sometimes I catch the sun setting over the Long Island Sound. And once it's dipped, the light show begins. Here is my representation of these wondrous moments . . . This brass Sailboat floats beneath a full moon that is a vintage '30s faceted aurora borealis crystal bead. Just after the sun has set, the hues along the horizon beckon with images in lavender, mauve & blue as represented by hand-cut & beveled stained glass here. The whimsical azure ocean stands on its side for a playful finish to Kariann's Vintage Mosaic creation. Float into this montage light of heart & free of mind!

Turquoise in Sterling Moon over Seaglass, Beach Gem Necklace

Dec 23 2009
Some evenings I look out my window and see a moon and its reflection cast over the Long Island Sound, from where this ice sea glass piece came from. It was so "fitting" to place this sterling silver crescent moon, with turquoise cabachon in rope bezel setting, over the sea glass. I love playing with design while gift wrapping, just as I did with this composition in silver art wire! If you love sea glass and the moon with all its splendor you will love this piece!

Sexy Rectangle, Pearls & Glass, Vintage Mosaic necklace

Dec 22 2009
They say that your past determines who you are & what you do. Part of my past included a favorite movie, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. Maybe that is why my boutique is often referred to as the candy store of art jewelry.  Here is one of my latest confections. . . Curvy, hand forged, gold art wire & slinky vintage S pin with faux glass pearls contrast softly against amber and lime stained glass, hand cut & beveled by Kariann. Olive irridescent glass bead & fresh water pearl complete the negative space and what you have is sexy bold for all to behold. Not for the faint of heart, this statement piece will stop traffic & bring you center stage. Take that to the bank when wearing this one-of-a-kind creation by Kariann!

Sea glass into art to wear!

Dec 18 2009
How much do I love finding treasures from the sandy shore?. . . let me count the ways and then let me show & tell why. I get easily inspired by sea glass in all shapes, colors & sizes. Sometimes I'll do a simple wire wrap design that shows off the contours and frosted surface of glass that has been tossed around the ocean floor for decades & sometimes hundreds of years. There's lots of history within each piece. To wear one made into a beautiful piece of art shows off many things -- 1) the conscious effort to recycle found objects and 2) taking it a step further by bringing it to its most artful conclusion. I have thousands of sea glass pieces & art to wear jewelry creations at my boutique in Deep River. Check it out here or in my gallery at www.kariannprice.com. Even better -- let me create your very own heirloom-to-be out of your sea glass find! Happy hunting & creating! Kariann Price
